Van der Westhuizen, Tersia

Tersia van der Westhuizen’s first children’s story, ‘Fanie en sy hond’ was broadcast in 1981 on Siembamba, a popular children’s programme on SABC in South Africa. Other popular children’s stories followed on the same radio programme – ‘Twee klein dwergies’ and ‘Hoppie se seer voet’ (1984) and more stories in the nineties. In 1991, Tersia published the short story ‘Die nuwe dogter’ for the South African magazine Voorligter. The rewritten ‘Fanie en sy hond’ was published in 2017, followed by ‘Georgie die rot,’ ‘Sheba’ and the adventure series, Bolemakiesie and Oepsidysie.’ Additional short stories and books followed, including ‘Engele op my pad’ and the ‘Goedvoel bundel, indicating that more novels and children’s stories will flow from the pen of this prolific South African writer.
